This role is in our Macedon, NY facility.
WHAT WE NEED
The Accounting Manager is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. This individual may act as a backup for the Controller and is a mentor to more junior level accounting staff.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly financial statements.
- * Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
- * Control the month-end closing checklist to make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- * Prepare financial management reports.
- * Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
- * Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- * Assist the Controller in preparing all required schedules for the annual tax return.
- * Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules.
- * Develop and maintain financial databases (ex: fixed assets register).
- * Lead the annual financial audit process and coordinate deliverables with the rest of the accounting team.
- * Oversee accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
- * Collect and analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
- * Partner with senior management on annual charitable contribution budget and ensure timely payments.
- * Maintain debt service payment calendar and ensures all payments are made timely.
- * Update the direct model cash flow forecast weekly and act as strategic partner with Controller to plan future cash needs.
- * Oversee Accounts Receivable function including assigning and monitoring credit limits, troubleshooting collection issues, and forecasting future cash receipts.
- * Regularly oversee capital project tracking spreadsheet and facilitate capital cash needs with Engineering team.
- * Partner with the Controller to execute the annual physical inventory process at all warehouse locations.
- * Monitor inventory cycle count compliance throughout the year and escalate accuracy concerns to management.
- * Review blocked inventory monthly and ensure adequate reserve is posted.
- * Review inventory levels weekly with Supply Chain team.
- * Analyze and report production waste monthly.
- * Mentor other accounting team members and provide training and support when needed.
- * Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts in SAP.
- * Review and approve monthly journal entries.
- * Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and provide action plans where applicable.
- * Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data.
- WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- * Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent from four-year college plus a minimum of five years related experience, specifically in:
- * Management of financial systems and budgets
- * Financial reporting
- * Financial data analysis, auditing, taxation and providing financial advice
- * Cost accounting
- * Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint. ERP system experience, preferably with SAP.
