Job Description:

Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, the Local Driver/Warehouse Associate is someone who performs a variety

of delivery and warehouse duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. Duties include local deliveries,

loading/unloading product, shipping and receiving product. This is a non-supervisory position.

Responsibilities:

Delivery Driving:

  • Able to operate a box truck for a full work-day, in all types of weather, while safely transporting our product
  • Provide exceptional customer service as you safely drive, move and offload merchandise from box trucks of up to 26 feet
  • Manage routing and driving times to insure 99%+ on time delivery percentage
  • Interact with customers and job site supervisors in a friendly and professional way
  • Perform truck inspections and moving equipment inventory
  • Maintain accurate logs of deliveries and pickups
  • Keep truck equipment (blankets, straps, moving apparatus) organized and safely secured
  • Follow all safety rules, vehicle operating instruction, vehicular laws and guidelines at all times

Shipping & Receiving:

  • Pick finished goods according to sales orders
  • Label and scan each shipment and check all items for accuracy
  • Prepare sturdy, balanced pallet loads for damage free shipping
  • Notify supervisor or sales department when major discrepancies occur, over-shipments or substitutions have been made
  • On received goods, scans and counts all items unloaded from trucks, or trailers
  • Check suppliers’ count and reports discrepancies to carrier and to department which placed the order · Unload inbound containers with finished goods or parts

Safety: Follow all safety policies

Maintain Work Practices:

  • Maintain work environment to 5S standards
  • Punctual: begins work on time and returns from lunch and breaks on time
  • All paperwork and database entries filled out completely and accurately
  • Promote a positive team atmosphere with co-workers

Marginal Job Functions: Other projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school degree or GED required

Experience:

  • At least 6 months of experience operating a 16ft – 26ft Box Truck
  • Shipping and receiving experience preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Basic computer skills required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean MVR
  • Able to pass drug test, driving record check, and Dept of Transportation (DOT) physical exam
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. regularly, 50 lbs. occasionally and 70+ lbs. as a team lift or with material handling equipment

Skills:

  • Gain knowledge of inventory system, product acceptance criteria and product quality checklists
  • Learn and incorporate the 5S program
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong sense of initiative and a sense of urgency, demonstrated by accomplishing tasks; improving current work

processes; and assisting others when necessary

  • Unwavering attention to detail and commitment to world-class quality
  • Ability to embrace deadlines
  • Able to project a positive and professional demeanor to all internal and external contacts
