Special Projects Coordinator
The City of Leawood is hiring a Special Projects Coordinator to coordinate the smooth execution of the City’s public facilities projects. This position will act as the go-between for a diverse group of stakeholders regarding the status of all public facilities projects. The Special Projects Coordinator will ensure the project meets the required deadlines and deliverables and adjust the deadlines when needed.

Your work responsibilities may include:
- Responsible for the project management of City public facilities projects. Duties include preparing, reviewing, and getting required approval associated with the project, and keeping applicable City, State, and/or Federal departments apprised of the project status.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, vendors, and external contractors to track assigned projects, monitor deadlines, deliverables, and expectations, provide continuous status updates to stakeholders, and proactively identify and address potential roadblocks. Works with the City’s Communications division to coordinate all project-related external and internal communications, including press releases and the city’s social media pages and website.
- Serve as the department’s point of contact in the implementation, execution, evaluation, and maintenance of the City’s Permits & Licensing system for Public Works.
- Assist the Department in coordinating and implementing the Accreditation process. Lead in coordinating research, reporting, analysis, and follow-up related to the Accreditation process.
- Assist in coordinating city-wide facility-related maintenance and repair activities, ensuring operational consistency between locations.
- Assist the Facilities Supervisor with the information needed for the bid and contract process including scheduling, participating, and documenting.
- Assist the department in implementing and evaluating new systems, processes, or technology to enhance project tracking and reporting.
Minimum Requirements: Must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or equivalent, with at least three (3) years of experience leading and managing projects. Equivalent experience includes a high school diploma with five (5) years of experience leading and managing projects. Must have a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification through an accredited agency or be in the process of completing certification.
Preferred Requirements: Strong project coordination experience in public works, facility management, or municipal operations, preferred.
