Job Description:
Wildland firefighter & support positions The Forest Service is hiring up to 1,100 permanent wildland firefighter and support employees across the nation’s national forests and grasslands. Applications are accepted through USAJOBS, April 14–24, 2025.
Positions include aviation officers, dispatchers, equipment operators, fire engine operators, fire management officers, fire planners, fire prevention specialists, forestry aids and technicians, handcrew members, helitack crew members, hotshot crew members, pilots, prescribed fire and fuels specialists, smokejumpers, and more.
Pay plans include Wage Grade (WG), Wage Leader (WL), and General Schedule (GS) levels 3–13. Multiple positions will be filled using the new Wildland Fire Management series, with compensation based on the new 2025 Wildland Firefighters Locality Pay Tables. Reimbursement of relocation expenses may be authorized at the discretion of management in accordance with agency policy.
