Job Description:

The University of Pittsburgh Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) is seeking a Co-Manager for Consulting Services. This CSSD management position is responsible for the overall success of the Consulting Services team and the contracted University departments that utilize CSSD consulting services. This is a senior position within CSSD’s Support Services division.

This position supports University departments through the CSSD contract program and the team of CSSD consultants who provide IT services to those departments. Managing department relationships and supporting contracts through service level agreements to ensure University departments receive consistently high levels of service is a key responsibility of this position. This position will work directly with departments to provide guidance on IT strategy and objectives. This would include developing technology roadmaps, providing monthly activity reports and engaging with the departments on a regular basis. At times, this position may serve as a technical lead in a department. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an expanding team of consultants. This will include all aspects of personnel management, managing team meetings, providing training opportunities to ensure the team is staffed and prepared to meet department contract needs, performance management, and completing annual performance reviews. Providing guidance, training and mentoring is also a key responsibility. Responsibility will include providing recommendations and justification for necessary growth based on increasing the number of support contracts, identifying opportunities for additional services to be offered through Consulting Services and continually improving the level of services provided to departments. The position will be responsible for ensuring that accepted IT practices, standards, and policies are followed by all consultants providing support to the University departments.

Must have excellent communication skills. There will be significant written reports and correspondence in support of the consultant team and contracted departments. Must effectively communicate with both technical staff and non-technical senior level executives. Excellent planning and organizational skills are a must. This position must contribute effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels.

This is a highly visible position within the University community. Exemplary personal conduct, a professional demeanor, and technical proficiency are required always. The ability to work with people of all levels is essential to success. The position requires 24 hour / 7 days availability.

Degree in Information Science, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required to meet the technical demands of this position.Five years or more of technical management experience is required.
