Job Description:
Vox Media is hiring a full-time copy editor to work with Eater. This individual will be responsible for copy editing a wide range of content, including feature stories, reports, and news pieces, across Eater’s national site and more than 20 city sites. They will ensure the quality, consistency, and clarity of the writing that appears on Eater.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Copy edit a wide variety of stories, from 300-word news posts to longform features, adhering to Eater style
- Copy edit social and video copy
- Help maintain and manage house style for Eater, updating the style guide as needed
- Work with the senior copy editor to create resources and one-sheets for the editorial staff
- Communicate frequently with editors and reporters, answering queries over Slack
WHO YOU ARE
Eater is fast-paced and broad in scope, so agility and the ability to work under a tight deadline are key. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, thorough, and attuned to modern and colloquial language. They will also be a diplomatic, nimble collaborator, working with a number of writers and editors, as well as the social media, visuals, and leadership teams. They will report to Eater’s senior copy editor.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years prior copy editing experience
- Experience working in digital media
- Fantastic organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects
- The ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
- A strong eye for detail
- Fluency with online publishing and organizational tools
- Familiarity with AP Style
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- An interest in conscious copy editing and an understanding of the importance of language when covering topics like race, labor, and immigration

This job is remote.
