Job Description:
SUNY Empire State College seeks a skilled Lead Programmer-Analyst (State Title: Lead Programmer-Analyst) in Information Technology Services to support the college’s Ellucian Banner and other enterprise administrative systems. The Lead Programmer-Analyst performs analysis, programming, development of reports using reporting tools as well as testing, documentation and support of student information systems in a higher education environment.

Responsibilities include:
  • Support and maintain the core student information system modules.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in the maintenance and support of administrative applications.
  • Analyze existing business processes to realize efficiencies while providing excellent student and staff support.
  • Provide advice and guidance to technical staff including programmer/analysts.
  • Integration support of external systems with Ellucian Banner and CRM systems.
  • Serves as a liaison to functional offices.
  • Excellent customer service and advanced communication skills a must.
  • Ability to work in rapidly changing technological and team-oriented environment is essential.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree with 5 years’ relevant job experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ relevant job experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases including complex SQL statements.
  • Ability to analyze and document the business processes functional areas of the college.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience supporting student information systems (Ellucian Banner, Colleague, etc.) or customer relations management system (Ellucian Recruit, MS Dynamics, Salesforce).
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Relational database such as Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, etc.; Web development frameworks and languages (JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, HTML, JAVA, C#, PL/SQL, XML, JSON, Groovy, Grails, .NET, Spring, etc.); Apache Tomcat, IIS.
  • Familiarity with the ITIL Framework concepts.

Additional Information:

Rank/Salary:
$60,000+, commensurate with experience.
