Job Description:

The University of Pittsburgh’s Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) department is seeking a qualified NOC Monitor Analyst for the Infrastructure division. This is a technical position whose primary responsibility is the use of enterprise monitoring tools in order to proactively identify and resolve network, system, and security faults. The candidate will act as the first point of contact for the University’s Network Operations Center, and will be responsible for troubleshooting, resolving, and escalating issues in a timely and appropriate manner. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, delegated administration of enterprise backup solutions, virtual server infrastructure, and network configurations.

This position works closely with NOC network and systems engineers, as well as other University groups in service of preventing or resolving issues as they arise. The successful candidate will have experience in IT operations or desktop support, and should exhibit the propensity and desire to learn. The ability to make intelligent decisions in emergency scenarios using a combination of University policies, internal knowledge sources, and good judgment is imperative.

A degree in computer or information sciences is preferred to meet the demands of the position, though equivalent experience will be considered. The NOC is a 247 operation, and candidates will need to be able to work flexible hours and non-traditional shifts, including evenings, weekends, overnights, holidays, and possible overtime as required.

Degree in computer science or information science preferred or equivalent in work experience.

Candidate must possess at least one year experience with enterprise applications and network technologies. Solid general experience with a variety of operating systems and applications preferred.
