Job Description:

The Department of Residence Life at the University of Pittsburgh welcomes applications for the Resident Director position for the 2018-2019 academic year. Full time Resident Directors will live on campus and are responsible for the co-curricular learning environment in residence halls of 450-780 students. Direct supervision of 8-22 Resident Assistants. Specific duties include: a commitment to student interaction and mentoring; programmatic support; personal conflict intervention and crisis management; judicial administration; participating in on-call duty rotation; coordinating maintenance and facility issues; acting as onsite liaison to campus police and counseling center; advising a student organization; and serving on a departmental team.

Requirements for this position include a Masters Degree and progressive experience in Residence Life or Student Affairs. A Master’s Degree in Student Development, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or a related field is preferred. Theoretical understandings of student development and community development are also required. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in achieving the goals of Residence Life and of the Division of Student Affairs.

Resident Director positions are 12 month full-time, live-in positions. This appointment is for a term of 3 years.
