Job Description:
As a company owned by a service-disabled USMC veteran, Ashley Transport Services, LLC (ATS) believes in the value of excellent service. We are seeking truck drivers as independent contractors that will take pride in being able to deliver outstanding service on behalf of ATS.
Truck Driver Job Responsibilities:
• Drive and operate trucks with dry or refrigerated trailers. Must be willing to drive interstate and/or intrastate, long and/or short hauls.
• Follow written and verbal instructions; locate and read location and road maps.
• Pre-inspect truck and trailer.
• Pick up goods and materials on time, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed and on time.
• Ensure cargo is loaded and unloaded with care.
• Responsible for basic vehicle and equipment maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times.
• Read and understand documents, as necessary. Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Hours/days will vary and shall be in compliance with FMCSA service regulations. As an independent contractor you will be afforded a reasonable level of flexibility and choice. We pay a competitive rate per mile for our drivers. Extra consideration given for military veterans.
Truck Driver Skills and Qualifications:
• Driving knowledge and knowledge of traffic laws/DOT regulations.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle and equipment maintenance; more advanced knowledge desirable.
• Able to pass random drug tests.
• Clean driving record.
• No DUI/DWI convictions in the past seven years.
• Adequate communication skills in English— reading, writing, listening, and verbal
• Efficient in managing time and use of fuel.
• Responsible, professional, and dependable.
• Flexible and adaptable to business needs and changing situations, as needed.
• Resourceful in problem-solving.
• Sound judgment to ensure the safekeeping of the truck, trailer, and transport of cargo while under the driver’s care.
• Able to use phone apps for email, scanning, tracking, etc. as it pertains to the job.
Experience and Age Requirements:
• CDL – Class A or Class B or Class C
• 21 years or older
• At least 24 months of OTR experience
